Why I chose to stop eating meat

March 19, 2018, I decided to completely give up meat. The thought had crossed my mind before, but this time I decided to really give it a try. So I went to work, no food prep or nothing and managed to get through the day. The second day, my cousin text me to check in. I told her I was giving up meat along with trying to get fit. She replied “really, how long has it been?” I told her it had only been two days, but I really wanted to do it for good. For me, once I put something out there I feel really compelled to stick to it. Sometimes I succeed at doing it long-term, other times it’s a forever thing. The goal is to make this a forever thing.

As of today, it’ll make 44 days since I haven’t had meat. I have to say I’m pretty proud of myself. Honestly, I look better. My skin is brighter and I tend to have more energy when I wake up. Some may say, but you need protein. This is true! However, you can get protein from plenty other things besides dead animals. No offense to meat eaters. Do you! For me, it just didn’t seem to be something that matched what I was trying to do. One of my problems was I’d over indulge when eating it. I surely wasn’t the type to exercise portion control. If there was more meat, I’d find myself going back to the stove picking up another piece and gobbling it down like I was a wild animal lol. It was really ridiculous. In addition, I was having a lot of digestive issues. That alone would stop a person from slimming down. My belly looked like I was a few months pregnant. Mind you my youngest is 4 an my oldest is 11. That means there is no reason I should still be walking around looking like I just had a kid or am having one.

Trust me I understand, there are plenty of fit meat eaters. That’s their prerogative. It just wasn’t something I felt the need to keep doing. If you’re thinking of quitting, may I suggest you at least try it for 21 days. Set your mind on the benefits, they are now starting to find that a lot of animals that have cancer are still being sold to us. They just cut the cancer off. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a family member who I’ve lost to the disease. With that being said I’d like to avoid consuming anything that has cancer it in. Some will say well there are a lot of different things that cause cancer. This is also true, but I try to stay away from what I can. Overall, it’s helped me consume much more fruit and vegetables. Most of us don’t eat a balance diet, so this has forced me to. I now eat more grains, nuts and consume my protein shakes more. I’ve even started eating more yogurt, which is really healthy for us ladies. Don’t believe the hype when they tell you that you need your protein from animals. There are many other ways to eat healthy balanced meals, this is just my way.

I’ve lost about 15 pounds, inches from around my waist and no longer look pregnant. Just remember that you really can do whatever you put your mind to! May you be blessed and successful in all your endeavors! Sending you lots of love.
